Biographical Information

Donald Harrisville Juel (1942-2003) was born March 4, 1942 in Alton, Illinois. After high school he attended St. Olaf College and graduated in 1964. He completed the B.D. program, graduating first in his class, at Luther Seminary in 1968, and received a Ph.D. in New Testament from Yale University in 1973.

Juel taught at Indiana University 1972-1974 and Princeton Theological Seminary 1974-1978 before joining the faculty of Luther Seminary 1978-1995. He returned to Princeton Theological Seminary in 1995 as Richard J. Dearborn Professor of New Testament Theology, teaching until his death from a lung disorder in 2003.

Dr. Juel was a member of the Society for the Study of the New Testament and the Society of Biblical Literature. He was the author of numerous articles and books in New Testament scholarship.
