The Rev. Matthew T. Adam was a missionary to Calcutta, India and pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Yorktown, N.Y.
Mary R. Janvier was a missionary for the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions to India. She was married to Princeton Theological Seminary alumnus Levi Janvier and mother of Seminary alumnus C.A.R. Janvier.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of 4 handwritten bound volumes. A handwritten preface has been tipped in to v. 1 of the Hindee Dictionary.

Mary Janvier is known to have given a portion of the collection to Princeton Theological Seminary in 1881. An inventory was compiled in 1993.
