Daniel Foster was a Congregational pastor in New Braintree, Massachusetts. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1777.

This collection consists of manuscripts by and about the Reverend Daniel Foster. Most are sermons, some on the Revolutionary War and John Hancock, but there are also journal and letter fragments.

Processing Information

These papers, along with papers of Luke and Isaac Foster, were given to the Seminary Library in January of 1979 by Colonel and Mrs. Merle L. Carey, the parents of the Reverend Jonathan Sinclair Carey of Brookline, Massachusetts. The papers were sorted and semi-organized at that time. The collection was organized further and the original finding aid was written in March of 1997, by Raymond D. Cannata, under the direction of William O. Harris, Archivist.

There are no special restrictions to access of this collection. It may be examined by library patrons under the normal rules and conditions of Special Collections.
