Biographical Information

James F. Armstrong received his B.D. from Princeton Seminary in 1954. In 1956 he returned as an instructor in Old Testament. In 1982 he was appointed Helena Professor of Old Testament Language and Exegesis. From 1959 to 1987, was served as registrar, at which point he was appointed as the James Lenox Librarian to Speer Library. Armstrong was instrumental in the creation of the Henry Luce III Library, which was built in 1994 to house the Seminary's Department of Archives and Special Collections. In 1994, Armstrong was appointed as the Dean of Academic Affairs. He retired July 1, 2005.
