Dr. Moffat received the honorary Doctor of Divinity from Miami University in 1853. He was the author of several books, including Church History in Brief (which was also translated into Hindustani), The Church in Scotland, Comparative History of Religions, and Outlines of Church History.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of a small amount of primary and secondary material relating to James Clement Moffat collected by the Seminary Libraries. Content includes student notes, correspondence, biographical materials, and Professor Moffat's original lecture notebooks.

This collection was processed, and the original finding aid was written by Raymond Cannata in March of 1996, under the direction of William O. Harris, Archivist. This collection was gathered from a number of sources, and was organized in March of 1996, with additions made in November of 1996. The finding aid was edited by Sarah Malone in August 2008.
There are no special restrictions to access of this collection. It may be examined by library patrons under the normal rules and conditions of Special Collections.
